What is counselling?

Counselling provides a professional, confidential and non-judgemental space for you to explore concerns or difficulties that are having a negative impact on your daily life.  As we work together you deepen your understanding of your problems and gain more insight into how you are able to resolve them.

How many sessions will I need?

It really depends - some people find that they get what they need from a few sessions, whilst others prefer a longer term arrangement.

At the initial session we can agree upon a number of sessions which we can then review in the future.

How much does it cost?

The initial 30 minutes consultation is free.

Subsequent sessions are £80 for 60 minutes.

At least 24 hours advance notice is required to avoid being charged for cancellations.

Who do you work with?

I work with adults and teenagers with all kinds of concerns and difficulties including;

  • Anxiety

  • Relationship difficulties

  • Gender/sexuality

  • Work-related stress

  • Procrastination

  • Performance anxiety

  • Exam stress

  • Depression

  • Coping with difficult life changes

  • Sexual abuse

  • Suicidal thoughts

  • Loss of meaning in life

  • Low self-esteem/lack of confidence

  • Bereavement and complex grief

Does counselling work for everyone?

Different people will get differing results from counselling, so it depends upon the individual.  Research shows that 75% of people in therapy reported a noticeable improvement in their emotional health. Most importantly, you need to feel that you have a good relationship with your counsellor.
